This year, we are focused on building the six new underground stations, completing tunnel boring operations including dismantling the TBMs, and beginning to install the SkyTrain tracks. Geotechnical, piezometer and closed-circuit TV (CCTV) readings will be taken overnight throughout 2024
Temporary single-lane closures of up to one hour for CCTV monitoring locations with reduced speeds and detours around the work as required
For geotechnical monitoring device and piezometer readings, there will be short-term traffic lane shifts (about 15-minutes in duration) at the test locations
A traffic truck with direction lights will indicate the lane shift, while crews take the geotechnical or piezometer readings
We are maintaining four lanes of traffic in station areas on Broadway during weekday peak periods, with lane closures planned primarily in off peak times.
Between station areas, six lanes of traffic are open during rush hour, with on-street parking in some locations in off-peak times.
Off peak times include: 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. weekdays and weekends.
Please expect temporary lane closures for deliveries, crane movement of materials into the station areas and work on the traffic deck.
Tunnels
Hours of work: up to 24/7 for work inside tunnels
TBM Phyllis completed her journey to Cypress Street on March 20.

Great Northern Way-Emily Carr Station
Great Northern Way-Emily Carr hours of work: 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. Regular night work.
Elevated guideway typical hours of work: 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. Intermittent night work.
Crews are building the new station, including concrete and rebar activities with increased deliveries of supplies.
Track installation is ongoing on the elevated guideway.
Throughout 2024, work will continue to focus on constructing the underground station and station entrance building. This includes regular concrete pours for the walls, columns, concourse levels and roof sections. There is also work happening in the tunnels to prepare for track installation.
Regular hours of work are Monday to Friday from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. There may be occasional work on weekends or holidays.
Occasional overnight work from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m.
Mount Pleasant Station
Typical hours of work: 6 a.m. until 10 p.m.
Crews are building the new station, including concrete and rebar activities with increased deliveries of supplies.
Deliveries to site require intermittent closures of less than 30 minutes in the southbound curb lane on Main Street between E. Broadway and E. 10th Avenue.
Throughout 2024, work will continue to focus on constructing the underground station. This includes regular concrete pours for the walls, columns and concourse levels.
There is also work happening in the tunnels to prepare for track installation.
Regular hours of work are Monday to Saturday from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. There may be occasional work on Sundays or holidays.
Occasional overnight work from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m.
Broadway-City Hall Station
Typical hours of work: 6 a.m. until 10 p.m. Regular night work.
Crews are building the new station, including concrete and rebar activities with increased deliveries of supplies.
Excavation: includes intermittent rock breaking, securing wall support, and trucking activities to remove material.
Lane reductions on Cambie Street due to construction of the Canada Line/Millennium Line underground connections.
Work on Cambie Street east sidewalk between Broadway and 10th Avenue to complete Canada Line/Millennium Line underground connections. Day and night work with intermittent pedestrian detours after 8pm.
With tunnelling complete, work to remove the conveyor belt system and other infrastructure that supported the two tunnel boring machines is commencing.
Crews will be intermittently removing the TBM infrastructure from the tunnels and transporting the components to the Broadway-City Hall Station site where they will be removed from the excavation by crane near the intersection of W. Broadway at Yukon Street.
Starting on May 21 until the end of June, intermittent night work hours from 10 p.m. until 6 a.m.
Typical hours of work are Monday to Saturday from 6 a.m. until 10 p.m.
Construction of the station will continue through 2024 and is currently focused on installing waterproofing membrane, rebar, formwork and concrete to construct station walls, columns and floors.
In addition, crews are working along Cambie Street from W. Broadway to W. 10th Avenue constructing the future passenger connections between the Millennium Line extension and the existing Canada Line Station.
Typical hours of work are Monday to Saturday from 6 a.m. until 10 p.m.
Regular night work takes place Sunday to Friday from 10 p.m. until 5 a.m. the following morning.

Oak VGH Station
Typical hours of work: 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. Regular night work.

With the arrival of both tunnel boring machines (TBMs), crews will continue working on the construction of the underground station concrete columns, walls and floors.
Regular work hours are from Monday to Saturday from 6 a.m. until 10 p.m. There may be occasional work on Sunday and holidays.
Tunnel boring activities, including conveyor belt movement, continue 24/7.

Work on July 18 involves the first major concrete pour for the station foundation.
Approximately 110 trucks will pour more than 1,000 cubic meters of concrete during the day, with additional pours over the coming months.
For each major pour, set up on site will begin around 5:00 a.m., with the first concrete trucks arriving at 6 a.m. The concrete pour is scheduled until 10 p.m. with low noise work continuing overnight to finish related activities.
South Granville Station
Typical hours of work: 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. Regular night work.
Crews are building the new station, including concrete and rebar activities with increased deliveries of supplies.
Ongoing site activities include rebar installation, crane movement, delivery of materials and equipment, utilities maintenance, road and sidewalk repairs as required, and regular concrete pours, which will continue through 2024.
Regular work hours are from Monday to Saturday from 6 m. until 10 p.m. There may be occasional work on Sunday and holidays.
Night work hours are from 10 pm. to 12 a.m. and will continue through spring 2024.
Elevated noise related activities that include but are not limited to deliveries, concrete activities, rebar installation, road repairs, utility activities and crane movement of materials into the station area.

Crews will complete the first major concrete pour for the station’s foundation. Approximately 130 trucks will pour more than 1,000 cubic meters of concrete during the day, with additional pours of varying volumes over the coming months.

Traffic changes include:
Broadway between Granville and Hemlock streets will be reduced to one lane in each direction.
Westbound left turns will be restricted from W. Broadway onto Granville and Hemlock streets.
Eastbound left turns from W. Broadway onto Hemlock Street will also be restricted.
Drivers travelling westbound on W. Broadway wishing to turn south are advised to use Fir Street.
Access to residences, businesses, and parkades will be maintained during all work activities.
Arbutus Station
Typical hours of work: 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. Intermittent night work.

Cypress Street north of W. Broadway temporarily closed to vehicles for TBM disassembly. Maple Street is reopened during this time. An Arbutus Greenway detour via Maple Street is in effect.

W. Broadway intermittently reduced to one lane in each direction for material deliveries, TBM disassembly and concrete work.
On Friday, June 28, the first roof concrete pour will take place on W. Broadway, between Cypress and Maple streets.
Over the coming months, there will be concrete pours of varying volumes. For the subsequent major pours, set up will begin as early as 5 a.m. and continue until 10 p.m.

This is a temporary traffic pattern change in the neighborhood, as Cypress Street north of W. Broadway will be closed to public vehicle access and cyclists during the disassembly of the tunnel boring machines (TBMs). During this time, Maple Street north of W. Broadway will be reopened to vehicles and cyclists.
Cyclists will be detoured via Maple and W. 7th Avenue to W. 10th Avenue.
Advanced signage will be installed along the Arbutus Greenway to advise cyclists and pedestrians on the detour routes.
Pedestrian access at Cypress Street will be unaffected and will continue on the existing sidewalks.

With the anticipated arrival of both tunnel boring machines (TBMs) this spring, there will be temporary traffic pattern changes on the north side of W. Broadway to accommodate the TBM disassembly and removal at Cypress Street.
Cypress Street north of W. Broadway will be closed to vehicle and cyclists.
Maple Street north of W. Broadway will be reopened to vehicles and cyclists to facilitate north-south access to the neighbourhood and businesses on the north side of W. Broadway.
These temporary traffic pattern changes will be in place through the summer.

The tunnel boring machines (TBMs) are expected to arrive this spring, and their disassembly and removal at Cypress Street will continue through the summer.

Intermittent overnight work hours will continue through 2024.
Temporary traffic changes and detours in the Arbutus Station area between Burrard and Arbutus streets to accommodate crane work; one lane in each direction will be maintained on W. Broadway with traffic control personnel managing drivers, cyclists, and pedestrians.
Beginning March 14, 2022 tractor semi-trailer-type trucks WILL NOT be able to make left hand turns from eastbound and westbound W. Broadway onto Arbutus St.
This latest restriction is in addition to not being able to make right or left hand turns onto W. Broadway from northbound Arbutus St., in effect since December 19, 2021.
Access is available via Oak St., Mackenzie/Macdonald streets, or Dunbar St.
